North Texans Gathered in Parr Library Commemorating the 1988 Prison Massacre

IACNT- On Sunday , August 18, North Texans gathered in Parr Library in Plano to commemorate the 1988 Prison Massacre in Iran. This program was organized by the Iranian-American Community of North Texas (IACNT). In this program, a short documentary was shown which revealed shocking details of this massacre for the first time. In this documentary, one of the former officials of the current regime stated that 33,700 political prisoners were executed in the 1988 massacre and their bodies dumped in mass graves. He described how different sizes of trucks were used to transfer bodies of prisoners to the mass grave site.

Iran: 75 hangings in 22 days

With the execution of 11 inmates in the northwestern city of Arbabil and western city of Qazin from July 6 thru July 8,,  the total number of executions following the election of Hassan Rouhani on June 14 has reached 75. One of victims was 15 at the time of his arrest. Six were women.

Iran, Syria ranked among world’s worst countries for press freedom

North Korea, Iran and Syria have been named among the top 10 worst countries for press freedom, according to an annual ranking by Freedom House.
Each year, the U.S.-based non-governmental organization issues a report on the state of global media freedom. The overall findings in its latest report were bleak.
“Just 14 percent of the world’s population lives in societies that enjoy vibrant coverage of public affairs, a legal environment that undergirds a free press and freedom from intrusion by the government or other political forces,” the report said.

NCRI Representative office repones in Washington DC
